Bolivia is a relatively young country, demographically, with 30% of its population being aged under 14 years old. Despite significant improvements in literacy rates, malnutrition figures and primary school enrollment in recent years, Bolivia is still one of the poorest countries in Latin America.
This has made childhood a luxury many families can't afford. A culture of respect for the rights of a child has not yet been fully established in Bolivian society and children are often perceived as the property of their parents meaning around 28% of Bolivian children aged five to 15 actively engage in work activities.
However, through your purchases, we are able to support SOS Children's Villages in ensuring a child has access to education and healthcare, but more importantly a loving family to ensure they have a fresh start in life.
A heartfelt thank you
